Tell us about your fitness journey, and how it lead to FGF@Home.

I wasn’t an “athlete” growing up. When I was in high school, it was right around the institution of Title IX so other than intramural sports, there weren’t a lot of opportunities to participate in organized athletics. So…I was a cheerleader! As I got older, I started running and belonged to various gyms in order to do some kind of strength training. I was pretty consistent until about 5 years ago. Then I don’t know what happened, but I was definitely less consistent in making exercise and fitness a priority. Last November, a now fellow FGF Homie, Emily Wirth, posted about her experience with the FGF@Home program and it sounded like a way for me to get back to focusing on regular workouts.

Please share your Farmgirlfit story since starting FGF@Home.

During my very first grind in January, I barely made it through the warm up. I was truly unaware of how out of shape I really was! But I stuck with it and it wasn’t long before I noticed a difference – not just physically but mentally. The encouragement and support from the other “homies” was both motivational and provided me with some accountability.

What has been your greatest fitness/performance accomplishment?

Running the Portland Marathon, I think in 1993. Never thought I could run 26.2 miles (and it’s unlikely I will again)!

What are your next health and fitness goals?

I hope to do more running and of course, keep going with FGF@Home.

Favorite workout song?

No one favorite song but I’m kind of into the 80’s cardio playlist on Pandora.

Do you have a favorite and/or least favorite exercise from the @Home program?

Favorite – Planks     Least Favorite – Burpees (not a fan…)

When the Grind is kicking my butt, I’m thinking…

How many more rounds?

What has been your favorite aspect of the @Home program?

I love that I don’t have to think about what I’m going to do for exercise every day that I workout. It’s all planned out for me!

What are you most looking forward to with the next session?

Seeing how far I can progress in terms of increasing reps and weights.

How has the rest of your life been influenced by Farmgirlfit, if at all?

I generally have so much more energy and I think I’m mentally sharper (although some might question that)!

Do you have a funny FGF@Home story, or favorite memory?

No specific story but I can’t tell you how many times, especially when trying a new move, I was so glad I was at home where no one else could see me.

Besides the FGF@Home Program, what does the rest of your life look like?

I have 11 grandchildren, 6 that live in Spokane. Best thing ever – being a grandma! My husband and I share many of the same interests – golf, travel, Gonzaga basketball, good food - so we truly like spending time together. When I’m not enjoying grandkids or time with my husband, I’m busy helping people buy or sell a home. I LOVE what I do!

Who/what inspires you to be fit?

My grandkids. I want to be around for a long time to watch their lives unfold and be fit and well enough to enjoy them all!

My happy place is:

Maui

You might not know this about me:

I was a voice major in college and have a degree in Music Education. Singing is one of my passions.

Words that inspire me?

To whom much is given, much is required.

Guilty pleasure:

I love a good red wine!

Team I’m always rooting for:

Gonzaga Bulldog Basketball (men & women)

Any advice for potential members or fellow farmgirls?

Something is better than nothing. Even if you can’t get every Grind in every week, or you can’t do every exercise, what you are doing is more than what many people are!
